Drutt Corporation launches Drutt 3PI Media – optimizing management and distribution of video to mobile devices

Drutt Corporation, the world’s leading Mobile Service Delivery Platform (MSDP) provider, announces the launch of Drutt 3PI Media. The product allows mobile operators to transform, optimize and distribute rich media such as video and audio to all capable mobile devices.

The case for mobile video and audio is beginning to materialize. Increasing numbers of device models support rich media, and mobile operators are expanding their portfolios of premium services in this area.

The challenge, however, is that no "standard" format for video and audio exist. Content providers are therefore forced to produce many different versions of their content, or they have to choose to support a subset of all available devices. On top of the format issue, physical device characteristics differ in terms of screen size, color depth, available memory, processing power, bearer type etc. Finally, content can be distributed either as streamed media, downloads or embedded in MMS.

With Drutt 3PI Media, audio and video can be delivered to any type of mobile device over any distribution channel. Drutt 3PI Media is:

• Enabling distribution of existing video and audio content, already available on the Internet, to mobile devices
• Minimizing the technology, competence, and investment barriers for partners when distributing video and audio content.
• Enabling an operator’s common policy to control the complexity of delivering video and audio content to different types of devices.

Drutt 3PI Media builds on the market leading suite for content integration and partner management, Drutt 3PI, which allows both mobile operators and content providers to focus on their core business. Drutt 3PI provides one point of integration for all types of content, and offers the operator one point of management of all partner aspects. Content providers, in turn, do not have to become mobile experts, but can concentrate on their content and applications. Write once, run everywhere.

Drutt 3PI Media has full workflow support, including ingestion, encoding, publishing and discovery processes for rich media content. Furthermore, the product supports both hosted and brokered content, i.e. content can reside either with the mobile operator or the content provider depending on preferred business model. A web based tool allows content providers to develop and test their services in the operator’s environment before submitting for approval.

Drutt 3PI Media will be implemented during the first half of 2005.
